Products and Services

Advisory, Consultancy and Site Testing Services
EEP provides Consultants, Contractors and Quantity Surveyors with impartial advice and comments relating to installation specifications with particular reference to:
  • Achieving optimum shielding performance
  • Identifying areas requiring special attention
  • Economy
  • Uniformity of build quality
  • Critical areas that need careful monitoring during the build phase

The work splits into two main sections:

Non-ionising Radiation: Undertake site monitoring and evaluation tests for Radio Frequency and Magnetic Fields and Floor Vibration measurements for MRI rooms.

RF environmental assessments

Measuring magnetic
field fluctuations

Checking for RFI

Site vibration measurements

Magnetic field projection for an MRI

Magnetic field analysis

Ionising Radiation: Mistakes in the structural shielding for a linear accelerator can (i) be very costly to rectify and (ii) pose a real threat to the programme. EEP recognises this risk.

EEP, with its partners – Nuclear Technologies plc – Safety and Radiation Physics Group (www.nuclear.co.uk) and John Caunt Scientific Ltd, (www.johncaunt.com) are able to provide a Total, Consolidated Service relating to the shielding and monitoring requirements associated with radiotherapy treatment, imaging and nuclear medicine.

This trio of expertise - EEP, NT and JCS can provide Trusts, Architects, Designers, Consultants and Contractors with:

  • Shielding Analysis
  • Radiation Dose Assessments
  • Neutron and Photon shield optimization
  • ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable) reviews
  • Engineering Conceptual Design and Validation
  • Radiological Protection and Health Physics advice
  • Site instrumentation & monitoring
  • Specifications
  • Installation supervision

This service has particular relevance where improvements to existing radiotherapy treatment facilities are involved, in particular linacs whose shielding requirements are complex. Obtaining the right solution becomes even more acute if building modifications are involved, space restrictions exist or the current shielding needs upgrading.

These safety critical matters can all be co-ordinated through a single contact point whose focus is on achieving economic, practical answers to sophisticated shielding problems. A pre-requisite to having a project delivered on time and on budget.
